Profile

Hilary Velandia has over 15 years of experience assisting health care providers regarding regulatory compliance, litigation, and transactional matters. She represents many types of health care entities, such as hospitals, managed care entities, ambulatory surgery centers, long-term care facilities, home health care providers, pharmacies, and physician groups. She has represented health care entities with agency appeals, government investigations, payor/provider disputes, licensing matters, overpayment appeals, civil investigative demands, self-disclosures, contract disputes, and various types of litigation and arbitration. She also assists health care entities and providers with operational issues, such as Medical Staff Bylaws, Payor/Provider Agreements, Conditions of Participation, EMTALA, HIPAA, fraud, false claims, antikickback and Stark.

Hilary attended the University of Kansas School of Law, where she was Articles Editor for the Kansas Law Review. She is fluent in Spanish and provides pro bono services to members of the Spanish-speaking community through Catholic Charities.  She is the former President of both the Oklahoma Bar Association Health Law Section and the Oklahoma Health Lawyers Association. Attorney Velandia is licensed to practice law in Oklahoma, Florida, and Kansas.

Represent hospitals, hospital medical staffs, managed care entities, and physicians regarding credentialing and peer review actions  

Draft provider and group contracts for managed care entity 

Represent an association of independent pharmacies in dispute resolution with national PBMs 

Draft Medical Staff Bylaws for hospitals 

Represent hospitals and managed care entities in payment disputes, including arbitration of payment disputes 

Assist mental health and other providers respond to subpoenas for documents, medical records, depositions, and testimony from private and government parties 

Draft, review, and litigate disputes of physician independent contractor, recruitment, and employment agreement on behalf of both the physician and the hospital or other health care entities.
