Profile

Hilary Velandia specializes in health care law and assists health care providers regarding regulatory compliance, litigation, and transactional matters.   She has represented a broad range of health care providers, such as acute-care hospitals, specialty hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, long-term care facilities, home health care providers, and physician groups. She has represented health care providers in agency licensing matters, agency investigations, Medicare and Medicaid overpayment appeals, and various types of litigation.  She also assists health care providers regarding HIPAA, health care operational and billing issues, such as Conditions of Participation, EMTALA, and CHOWs, and fraud and abuse issues, such as antikickback and Stark.

Ms. Velandia also assists child care facilities successfully navigate child care licensing matters, including appeals of adverse licensing decisions.

Ms. Velandia attended the University of Kansas School of Law, where she was Articles Editor for the Kansas Law Review.  She is fluent in Spanish and provides pro bono services to members of the Spanish-speaking community through Catholic Charities.  She is the former President of the Oklahoma Health Lawyers Association.
