Workers Compensation Defense

Conner & Winters works with insurance carriers, mutual associations and self-insured companies offering litigation defense, claims investigation and strategic counseling. We assist clients by working with them to find the strategy best suited to reduce overall exposure.  If litigation is necessary, the firm provides comprehensive trial services in both state and federal court.  Where workplace injuries are costly for employers, we are proud to provide our clients with a wide range of services but with an efficient overall approach.

Assisting with a range of services
  • Counseling management on OSHA compliance
  • Assisting company safety personnel in developing, drafting and implementing personnel and workers’ compensation policies and procedures to not only minimize work related injuries but also to create effective employment relations that are compliant with local, state and federal law
  • Helping employers and carriers devise strategies for controlling medical and related expenses following a work injury
  • Preparing a complete risk assessment incorporating the impact of the FMLA or ADA on a particular injury claim as well as any potential allegations of retaliatory discharge
  • Assisting HR personnel when terminating or disciplining an employee who is asserting a work related injury
  • Onsite counseling for supervisory personnel on the investigation and handling of a workers’ compensation claim
  • Providing clients with periodic updates of recent developments in the workers’ compensation area

The firm’s labor and employment practice supplements our workers’ compensation practice.  Employment laws are often intertwined, and our attorneys are skilled in assessing the impact of such laws on workers’ compensation claims. The combination of these two practice groups assures that our clients can be confident that all employment related risks are examined.
