Teresa Meinders BurkettPartnerTeresa Burkett directs the firm’s health care practice group. Ms. Burkett’s practice is focused primarily in the health care and employment law areas in both litigation and non-litigation matters. She represents a number of providers in the health care industry including hospitals, physician groups, nursing homes, hospice organizations and individual professionals. She counsels and defends these clients in corporate compliance matters, employment issues and litigation, licensure and accreditation issues, third party and Medicare reimbursement, HIPAA compliance and patients’ rights concerns, business transactions, medical staff issues and operational needs. Ms. Burkett is a past President of the Oklahoma Health Lawyers Association and has also served as Chairman of the Health Law Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association. She has been included in the Health Law Section of Best Lawyers in America since 1992 and was recognized by Oklahoma Super Lawyers as one of the top 25 women attorneys in Oklahoma in 2006 and 2007. Ms. Burkett earned her juris doctor degree with honors and an undergraduate degree with special distinction in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma. She is a member of the Tulsa County, the Oklahoma and the American Bar Associations. In addition to her work with various professional associations, Teresa is active on the Boards of Directors for Community Service Council of Greater Tulsa, the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy, Land Legacy, and LIFE Senior Services. She has served in leadership roles with many other organizations including Leadership Oklahoma, Leadership Tulsa, Mental Health Association in Tulsa, and Tulsa Habitat for Humanity. |
