Melinda L. Kirk

Melinda Kirk primarily practices in the area of labor and employment law assisting local and national employers, including those in the transportation, energy, manufacturing, retail, and health care industries, in navigating through all facets of employment law.  Her expertise encompasses defense of harassment, discrimination and retaliation claims in federal and state courts, as well as administrative proceedings before the United States Department of Labor, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and state human rights commissions.  In addition to her substantial litigation experience, Ms. Kirk  provides counseling to employers from handling routine and complex questions to drafting employee handbooks to training management and employees on various employment related laws and regulations.  As part of her employment practice, she also has significant experience representing clients in federal and state “whistleblower” cases by providing advice, internal investigations and representation in administrative and court proceedings.  Ms. Kirk is an author of the firm’s bimonthly newsletter, Corporate Whistleblower News and a regular author of the firm’s Employment Alerts.

In addition to her extensive knowledge and experience in the employment arena, Ms. Kirk practices construction law, energy law and commercial business litigation.  She has practiced before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in oil and gas matters, the International Chamber of Commerce in international construction arbitrations, and federal and state courts in construction, energy and other commercial disputes.
